L\u2019introduzione in via sperimentale anche negli altri gradi scolastici ha allargato notevolmente la platea dei docenti interessati alla metodologia CLIL. Il termine CLIL, introdotto da David Marsh e Anne Maljers nel 1994, \u00e8 l\u2019acronimo di Content and Language Integrated Learning, apprendimento integrato di contenuti disciplinari in lingua straniera veicolare.
